Want to get involved in the run up to #SaferToBeMe?

We are sending an open invitation to individuals, community and youth groups, arts organisations, charities, private businesses, and local authorities, to get involved with the run up to #SaferToBeMe. Or, it could be that you would like to host an event as part of the official calendar of the #SaferToBeMe Summit. Either way, we would love to hear from you, and we have given some examples for you of organisations who are alreasdy onboard, and ideas you could do, below. Our team can help to support you through generating ideas around the theme of #SaferToBeMe. Contact us at safertobeme@reportout.org

So, what could you do?

Firstly, help us by becoming a sponsor

#SaferToBeMe may be a partnership of organisations, but we are all charities and some of us are entirely volunteer-led. Creating something like this Summit takes time, effort, and resources. We need allies and your support to make it happen. Please download our Get Involved pack below, and make the North East #SaferToBeMe

Secondly, why not host a fun activity as part of the official programme? Here are some ideas...

01

Run a fun arts project

Could your school, college, charity, or community group, do an arts project around the theme of #SafeToBeMe? This could be to draw, paint, create posters, banners, zines, collages, or develop any other creative project around our hashtag that we could display at our launch event in October.

02

Create something digital

If you like to develop podcasts, YouTube videos, TikTok videos, or blog writing, as either a person or an organisation, perhaps you could submit them to us with the theme of #SaferToBeMe and we could display them on our socials if they are suitable. This could be great for a staff network to come together on a fun project.

03

Become crafty with crafts

Perhaps you are part of a knitting, craft, quilting, or sewing group (or any other craft). Using the theme #SaferToBeMe, you could create crafts which are based around our hashtag and then discuss why you did this as a group. You could then send them to us and we can display it at the Summit.

04

Tackle hate crime

Using our #SaferToBeMe hashtag as the basis, your organisation could facilitate discussions around hate crime and how to combat it in the region (or wider). We could work with you to bring your ideas to a wider audience, such as the police, Mayor, or local authorities.

05

Create a fashion runway

Could your school, college, or university use our theme of #SafeToBeMe to create interesting fashion designs and host your own fashion runway to raise money and awareness of the Summit?

06

Invite us in as a speaker

For a donation, have us come into your organisation for us to explain why #SaferToBeMe is needed more than ever before, and why we must work to protect and safeguard LGBTQ+ rights, both in the U.K. and globally.

07

Launch a quiz night!

Using a theme of #SaferToBeMe, you could gather friends, family, or colleagues and create a quiz night about LGBTQ+ rights. We can supply you with the quiz and you could use this as an opportunity to raise awareness of the Summit, and to raise money for us.

08

Work with us on a bespoke organisational project

We could work with your organisation to come up with a more bespoke project or campaign based around the theme of #SaferToBeMe. This could be an internal or external project. Reach out to us and we can help.

'Be' already want to Be part of the #SaferToBeMe Summit!

Be are a charity who empower transgender and non-binary people living in the North East of England. After hearing about #SaferToBeMe, they reached out to us, wanting to be part of the week-long Summit itself. After discussions, we mutually decided that they could offer a 'Trans Inclusion in the Workplace' training course for professionals, as part of the #SaferToBeMe offering. More details to be released when our booking calendar comes out soon!
